Precise Handrafted
Process
The basic idea of the polishing process, be it sandpaper polishing, or high gloss polishing, is to transform a pre-manufactured surface with certain roughness to a specified final surface finishing under the condition of keeping the contour fidelity within the specified dimensions. The surface polishing is done primarily with hands, with the aid of electromechanically operated polishing equipment.
Depending on the customer's specifications, a variety of abrasive polishing materials will be used throughout the process: corundum and silicon abrasives, boron carbide and diamond pastes in different grain sizes. The use of the polishing materials, such as lapping rings, is determined by the amount of material to be removed and the surface roughness to be achieved in each processes.
The critical requirements for high gloss polished mould surfaces are to be free from orange peel (effect of over polishing), and porous-free finishing.
