During the laser welding process, a bundled laser beam with a frequency of 0.5 - 2 ms is transfered on to the tool surface that is to be welded. Both, the base material of the tool, as well as the welding material will be melted, creating a homogeneous integration of these two materials.
Due to the minimal heat creation, heat penetration remains low or completely absent, and thus lower the risk of „sink marks“ formation or material deformation. The repair of sharp edges, the rework of small aborted mould components or general cavity surface repairs are easily achievable with this method.
