Applications
Introduction of PVD hard coatings on toolings has successfully solved many critical problems faced in the manufacturing industries, ranging from Optical Disc, Plastic Injection Molding, Die Casting, Semiconductor industry, etc.
PVD hard coatings provide high degree of wear and tear as well as scratch resistance, effectively protect the steel surface, especially a high gloss polished surface for longer lifespan. In addition, hard coatings help to prevent oxidation on non-ferrous materials. In plastic injection moulding application, hard coatings enable better plastic filling during the injection process and help to improve mould release.
As for movable components such as lifter, slider and ejector pins, the use of oil and grease can be significantly reduced or completely eliminated by the application of specially formulated coatings.
In forming and punching tools application, PVD-Coatings have proven their effectiveness in the reduction of friction against steel surfaces. Again, the use of lubricants can be reduced or eliminated, and longer tool life can be achieved.
